About

Artist Portrait in Studio

My work creates a dialogue between two traditions deeply rooted in Japanese culture: linocut printing—a contemporary echo of ukiyo-e—and Sashiko, a meditative folk embroidery.

Though different in material and gesture, both practices share a spirit of repetition, rigor, and an intimate relationship with time. Linocut establishes strong silhouettes and fundamental forms, while hand-stitched Sashiko patterns introduce a second layer of rhythm and organic texture.

I work primarily with black, white and red—sober yet powerful colors recalling traditional pigments. Together, ink and thread find a quiet balance between graphic strength and textile fragility, weaving a bridge between the printed image and the stitched surface.
